The growth and fundraising journeys of last mile distributors

This piece of research from the Global Distributors Collective (GDC) was undertaken in Feb-April 2021, to understand the fundraising and growth journeys of high performing last mile distributors (LMD) from the GDC membership. The research demonstrates that: 1) LMDs are achieving substantial impact; 2) Faster-growth and international LMDs have raised more capital, in particular equity; 3) Slower-growth and local LMDs have achieved more sales per $ of capital raised; 4) Successful LMDs have shown they need particularly types of funding at different stages; 5) LMDs across the board, including successful LMDs, still face barriers to access capital including the need for a track record and being investor ready.
